I love all the British Invasion acts as it was watching a growing up of music. Between what they brought to the charts and what the American acts supplemented it was a great time. I was lucky to have left England in 1961 for California and my relatives always sent me the NME's to keep pace with the acts. I also was lucky enough to have the 45's and an album or two sent to me before American release.
I think the Hollies were the act that I liked that never really hit the toppermost of the Poppermost here. Well they did after Bus Stop but I'm Alive and Look Through any Window were GREAT :)

"Carrie Anne" is one of my all time favorite songs. It just might be the best evocation of lost innocence ever committed to wax. "Bus Stop" holds a special place in my heart, too, because it came true for me once!

In my opinion , the Hollies put out very few duds in the 45 realm.  But I one I like the best is "Long Dark Road"  followed by "Dear Eloise".

Gotta say, I always liked "Long Cool Woman In a Black Dress." It didn't sound "dated" the way some of the other stuff from that era did. Glad to see The Hollies get into the Rock Hall :)

I literally have everything the Hollies have issued (except for their newest cd, that has only two real Hollies remaining) and have enjoyed their output immensely! While agree that their singles were impeccable, they sure had some interesting album cuts that crossed a variety of genres. Had the opportunity to see them in the late seventies, and their harmonies and stage presence was very entertaining. They definately were a great band, but what I've heard from the last couple of cds, they aren't even a shadow of what they used to be. Too bad Terry Sylvester didn't take over when Alan Clarke retired. Then they probably would have retained some of the Hollies sound.
